Our client, a Canadian global leader in exploration, mine engineering, and environmental protection has an immediate need for an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer. This is a contract position for seven (7) months and located in Saskatoon, SK.

Description

The Mechanical Engineer will design work on various projects executed and act as Engineer of Record for issued drawings, specifications, data sheets, engineering lists and construction packages.

Role Accountabilities:

  • Work with mechanical designers for CAD work in support of development of 3D models and 2D drawings.
  • Develop and revise technical specification, work on scope of supply, Material Take Offs to support capital cost estimation, Bill of Materials for procurement, and construction work packages.
  • Signing and/or sealing of technical documents, including drawings, technical specifications, data sheets, engineering lists (such as equipment list, pipeline list, tie-in point list, valve lists etc.), and calculations.

Qualifications:

  • 4 – 9 years experience managing non-routine maintenance projects according to the client’s design control procedures
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, registered with PEO as a P.Eng
  • Experience in engineering design with a focus on mechanical systems
  • Experience with Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code
  • Experience with sizing, selection, and specification of major mechanical/HVAC equipment, building services, industrial ventilation, and exposure to process pumping equipment, process piping design, process vessels, tanks will be an asset.
  • Knowledge of applicable design and or construction codes and standards.
  • Experience with major mechanical equipment sizing and equipment layouts, HVAC schematics, HVAC/mechanical general arrangement, HVAC/mechanical plans, sections, and details, building services piping (hot water, cold water, drains and vents), and process piping (P&IDs, piping specifications, piping isometrics)
  • Experience with HVAC heating and cooling load calculations (system modeling/ sizing software such as Carrier HAP), hydraulic modeling and simulation (such as AFT Fathom), and exposure to piping stress analysis, steam/ condensate and refrigerated cold temperature piping systems will be an asset.
  • Experience with Uranium would be an asset.
