ABA behaviour therapist – Behaviour Avenues Inc

Part Time and Full Time- London

Behaviour Avenues is an Ontario Autism Program (OAP) approved service provider offering evidence- based behaviour therapy programs to children and youth with autism and other intellectual disabilities using Applied Behaviour Analysis principles in the London and surrounding areas. All programs and treatment plans are developed and overseen by the clinical supervisor who is a Board Certified

Behaviour Analyst-

Summary: Reporting to the clinical supervisor (BCBA), the ABA behaviour therapist is responsible to deliver ABA skill building programs and behaviour treatment plans to children and adolescents with autism and other intellectual disabilities in the client home , center, or community settings.

Qualifications:

  • BA in psychology or special education or behavioural sciences or social work
  • College Diploma in Applied Behaviour Analysis, and/or Autism and Behavioural Sciences, or

Registered Behaviour Technician (RBT)

  • BCaBA certification is an asset
  • Knowledge of skill based assessments such as VBMAPP and ABLLS, and FBA assessment tools
  • At least 2 years experience working with children or youth with autism and delivering ABA skill building programs as well as behaviour reduction interventions.
  • Must have training and experience in running social skills programs for adolescents with Autism
  • Must have access to a reliable car and a G class driver’s license.
  • Valid NVCI (CPI) training or Safe Management training
  • Must be fully vaccinated
  • Must have a recent vulnerable sector check (less than 6 month)
  • Must be able to work on a flexible schedule ( some evenings and weekend hours)

Responsibilities:

  • Implementing one to one skill building programs such as functional communication, fine motor skills, functional living skills, social skills, self-regulation skills, executive functioning skills
  • Preparing program material for the therapy sessions
  • Documenting session summaries, collecting data, and graphing
  • Attending supervision and team meeting
  • Helping with assessments and material preparations
  • Following and Implementing behaviour support plans to reduce challenging behaviours

Skills:

  • Solid experience and fluency in delivering skill building programs (Discrete Trials Training,

Natural Environment Training, Incidental Teaching)

  • Experience teaching functional communication and verbal behaviour skills
  • Solid experience with data collection, graphing, and progress report writing
  • Knowledge and familiarity with clinical assessments such as VBMAPP, ABLLS-R, AFLS
  • knowledge and experience in Functional Behaviour Assessments and behaviour intervention plans
  • Ability to work with children and adolescents who exhibit challenging behaviours
  • Establishing and maintaining good rapport and communication with parents
  • Demonstrates ability to work within a team
  • Enthusiastic and creative
  • Strong commitment to ethics and professionalism
  • Highly organized and excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and adhering to treatment plans
  • Using technology (educational apps, Microsoft, zoom , ABA data collection software)

Job type: Contract – part time/ full time

Part time- starting with 16 hours per week and gradually increasing to full time

Start date: As soon as possible
