About the opportunity
The Department of Urology at Dalhousie University and Nova Scotia Health is seeking a full-time academic u ro-oncologist to join the department of 14 including three full time uro-oncologists. This position will also hold a Continuing Appointment with Annual Academic Career Development at the appropriate academic rank within the Faculty of Medicine, Dalhousie University. Compensation is primarily through a fee for service model, with additional remuneration for academic activities. The urologist will participate in a city-wide urology call schedule.

The catchment area for the department is approximately one million people, and the city of Halifax itself has a population of approximately 500K. This beautiful historic city sits directly on the Atlantic Ocean and acts as one of the busiest marine ports in North America. The hospitals and university are situated in the same location, directly downtown, surrounded by friendly neighbourhoods and many excellent schools. A new hospital/health sciences centre is being built over the next 5 years

Candidates must hold an MD plus FRCSC qualification in Urology, or equivalent, and must have completed a fellowship in Urologic Oncology and be trained in robotic surgery. Commitment to building an academic career is priority. Candidates must demonstrate an interest and commitment to medical education, research, and be expected to assume administrative positions of leadership within the Department. Candidates will have a proven and ongoing research track record in urologic oncology. Expertise in the areas of research methodology or translational research would be an asset.
