Job Description: Administrative Assistant

The Alzheimer Society of PEI (ASPEI) is a non-profit organization committed to improving the lives of Islanders affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Our mission is to alleviate the personal and social consequences of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias and to promote research for a cause and a cure.

The Society offers programs and services to support persons with dementia, care partners, and other family members and friends so they have the help they need today and have hope for the future. We work in collaboration with other health and community support providers to ensure quality across the system of care for all affected.

Job Summary

The Administrative Assistant provides office support and assists with finances, fundraising, event coordination, volunteer coordination, and marketing and communications. In this role, you will perform administrative duties such as: answering incoming calls and emails; taking messages and re-directing calls to the appropriate staff member, processing donations in person, online and from partner organizations, preparing and making bank deposits, invoicing, managing files, designing and preparing reports/statistics, donor data-entry and charitable receipting, and general office management such as booking meeting rooms, inventory and ordering supplies, maintaining printers and copiers, and light cleaning duties.

The Administrative Assistant also provides support to programs and services staff, fund development activities, assists in the development of marketing and communications materials, and helps to maintain the social media presence.

Job Qualifications

Education:

  • Office Administration diploma or completion of a related post-secondary office program or equivalent experience (Marketing, Communications, Health/Psychology)

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with office administration preferred
  • Experience working in a non-profit or health-based environment an asset
  • Experience working with people living with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias and their families is an asset

Background Check:

  • A clear criminal record check, inclusive of a vulnerable sector search is required.

Working Conditions, Salary, and Benefits Compensation

  • This position is an in-office role – Location: Head Office in Charlottetown

  • Job Type - Full Time - Hours of work 37.5 hrs/wk. Occasionally evening and weekend work may be required.
  • Working hours are 8:30am-4:30pm
  • Travel requirements - This position involves occasional travel following the Alzheimer Society travel policy. A valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract is required.
  • Benefits - Dental, extended Health and vision care (after successful 6 month probationary period) and RRSP contribution (Eligible after 1 year of employment)
  • Salary: $34,144.50-$42,178
