The opportunity:

The position is part of both the advising, and student services support team that provides support and information to students about their academic situation so that students can make informed choices about their academic career and make adjustments as needed to remain eligible to register and progress through their degree program.

This position is to assist the Associate Dean (Student Experience) and the academic advising team mainly with four tasks:

1. Management of the Academic Integrity cases including, starting with Summer 2020, Fall 2020, and Winter 2021 and beyond.

2. Provide administrative support to the Committee on Student Standing, Committee on Courses and Programs

3. Facilitates room bookings by student groups in the Faculty of Science

4. When required, assist the Academic Advising Team by helping with the front office as the first line of contact to answer questions, interpret UM and Faculty of Science policies.

The qualifications and experience we’re looking for:

  • Completion of a formal training program in a related discipline from a recognized institute required.
  • B.Sc. preferred.
  • Four years of directly related experience required.
  • Experience working directly with students in regards to academic program is required with a preference in the Faculty of Science Programs.
  • Knowledge and experience with student support services and advising students is required.
  • Experience using student record management systems (Aurora self-serve, Aurora Admin, Banner INB ) is required.
  • Knowledge of academic regulations and policies that govern student’s academic progression and behavior is required.
  • Experience using Ad Astra or similar room booking programs.
  • An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
