Advisor Job at Alberta Health Services

Alberta Health Services Edmonton, AB

Your Opportunity:

We are looking for aspiring new graduates to join our incredible organization as part of our Human Resources Business Partnerships (HRBP) New Grad Program. We know that learning is key to developing yourself both personally and professionally. The New Grad program encompasses a learning framework that includes internal courses, as well as on-the-job learning, designed to help you gain the skills you need to succeed. The program will launch in September 2023 and will enable you to progress to an HRBP Advisor role by the end of your 8-month program. You will gain hands-on, well-rounded, and meaningful experience by cycling through our various HRBP teams. Each rotation will provide you with an opportunity to develop your problem-solving skills and build on your interpersonal skills to effectively work with people at all levels of the organization. AHS is Canada’s first and largest province-wide, fully integrated health system, and is a top-rated employer nationally and provincially, as well as a top employer for young people and diversity. AHS is a supportive employer, with endless opportunities for professional development and comprehensive benefits, including health and dental, so you and your family can truly thrive. We offer a hybrid-working environment with the ability to work at the site or from home with occasional onsite work at various AHS sites as required. You may not work directly with patients, but you can positively impact the province-wide delivery of healthcare and help enable a positive patient experience. Having an engaged workforce is shown to improve the care experiences of patients and families, and although you don’t directly work with patients, you’ll feel good knowing that you help enable our mission to deliver high-quality, accessible, and sustainable health care to Albertans.

Description:

As part of the formalized HRBP New Grad program, you will progress in three stages of learning: Stage 1 -Observers: Watching other HRBP colleagues perform a task or describe a task. This might be accomplished through “shadowing” an experienced colleague or being involved in meetings and group activities that demonstrate the desired interactions. Stage 2- Participant/Collaborator: Taking part in activities, tasks, and meetings. This includes the New Grad being assigned a task to research and report back. Stage 3- Lead: Taking on a task, meeting, or providing guidance/recommendation with supervision support. In each stage, you will work towards building the skills to be able to provide full HR support and be accountable for the delivery, implementation, and integration of HR processes, frameworks, solutions, and services to an identified client group, ensuring they align with AHS provincial approaches, organizational priorities/direction, Our People Strategy, and evolving best practices. In this role, you will learn HR expertise in a broad range of functions with an enhanced focus on identifying when strategic HR approaches may be necessary for supporting clients with their workforce needs. This position supports people management by coordinating, advising, and if necessary, providing direction, particularly in areas of workplace issues such as performance management, accommodation, investigations, and grievances with the identified client group, and external stakeholders such as local union partners. As such, part of this role will be to build and maintain proactive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. This job requires some travel within the area of accountability. Depending on the location of the role and the client group served, the individual may require a Drivers License and the use of their personal vehicle for AHS business.
