About Us:

Idea lab Kids Richmond Hill offers an innovative educational program designed to instill fundamental STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) concepts through the use of a proprietary curriculum. Our programs create a fun, learning environment that promote children (4-7 years) and youth (8-12 years) development via afterschool classes, camps, workshops, and birthday party experiences. Enrichment at Idea Lab Kids allows children to explore project and design-based learning while discovering their creativity, expanding their imagination, and developing essential critical-thinking skills.

The primary responsibilities of the Instructor is to deliver fun and enriching activities for school-aged children in order to encourage academic success, leadership, social, conflict-resolution skills, as well as community participation. The program combines recreation and hands-on learning to support human development of youth. An ideal candidate would be organized, dedicated to the academic and social enrichment of youth. This position works closely with other Idea Lab Kids Richmond Hill staff, parents, local private and public schools in the Richmond Hill area, and other community partners and stakeholders.

We are currently hiring for: Engineering teachers for ages 8-12

* Must be available Fridays 3:30-5pm for classes at Hwy 7 & Bayview

This position can also teach Digital Arts classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:30-5pm if qualified.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing supervision while delivering the IDEA Lab curriculum (curriculum is designed for you) at our off-site location (Hwy 7 & Bayview).
  • Establish a professional level of rapport with each family in order to provide quality care and friendly service.
  • Executing emergency procedures as needed.
  • Ensuring safety and well-being of all students.
  • Maintains cleanliness and safety in classrooms, multi-purpose area, storage areas, restrooms, etc.
  • Working at off-site and/ or online as required.
  • This position may require after school hours (4-6pm) and may require weekend hours for birthday parties, workshops, and occasional hours for camp, an open house, training, etc.
  • Communicates program needs continuously with Campus Director.
  • Maintain a professional self-image and project the values of the school at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • At least 1-year experience in a similar role or position.
  • Teaching or child-care experience.
  • Passion for working with children.
  • Knowledge in engineering subjects
  • Knowledgeable of group work & facilitation, conflict resolution & behaviour management.
  • Flexible regarding time & availability.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Current Standard First Aid / CPR-C certification, or willingness to obtain.
  • Current Vulnerable Sector Screening.
