NOTE: This is a remote, full-time permanent position and is open to all applicants from across Canada. We will provide you with everything you need to succeed in your role.


Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into data models that will help stakeholders answer business questions
  • Create and maintain scalable and reliable pipelines that process large quantities of structured and unstructured data
  • Unify streaming and batch processing modes into one cohesive framework of processing including monitoring and alerting that fit into a unified data platform infrastructure
  • Participate in the design and implementation of data models as part of modern data lake, data warehouse and ETL/ELT approaches
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, deploy data quality checks, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc
  • Review work with/from peers to improve personal knowledge of the systems, ensuring that code changes meet business goals and technology best practices
  • Stay up to date with the latest developments in data engineering and analytics

Requirements:

  • 2+ years experience in designing, implementing, and extending analytics data models
  • Understanding of data warehouse modeling methodologies (Kimball, Inmon, Data Vault)
  • Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills
  • Proven track record of mastering new technologies
  • Demonstrated ability to design and write maintainable software
  • Understanding of software engineering best practices, object-oriented analysis & design, and design patterns & algorithms
  • Understands analysis approach and has practiced visualizing data
  • Have experience using some of the following software/tools:
    • SQL & NoSQL data stores, including Cloud Data Warehouse e.g. Snowflake
    • Highly Proficient in SQL
    • Experience with dbt
    • Object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, Java, etc.
    • Data pipeline and workflow management tools: Airflow, Fivetran, etc.
    • AWS cloud services: S3, EC2, RDS, Lambda
    • Experience with a BI tool (Tableau, PowerBI, etc.)
    • Modern devops tools and processes
