Position Title: APM Intermediate Instrument Specialist

  • Work Location: Suncor Energy Centre, Calgary; remote from home
  • Term (start and end date): March 10th to Dec 31, 2023
  • Schedule: Normal business hours, Monday through Friday

Responsibilities:

Working within an integrated team of subject matter experts to implement instrumentation predictive analytics across an Oil & Gas Enterprise

  • Supporting configuration of smart instrumentation alert parameters in Instrument Management systems included AMS Device Manager, and Honeywell FDM/UAS
  • Developing Dashboards and Reporting for Alert Management
  • Dev Mapping control system tag data to analytic inputs/metrics by reviewing P&IDs and Historian Databases
  • Collecting and reviewing engineering documentation for equipment specifications and system information
  • Developing, Testing and Validating analytics for Rotating equipment including
  • Pumps
  • Compressors
  • Bulk Handling Equipment
  • Provide Innovative ideas to support instrument asset performance management
  • Support Configuration and Remote Commissioning in AMS Device Manager of Wireless HART Instruments used for APM Analytics
  • Providing updates to APM program team, with support to schedule, scope and budget management
  • Coordinating, directing and reviewing the work of vendors and engineering contractors
  • Identifying risks and issues within your area of responsibility
  • Creating supporting documentation or collecting information pertinent to the project
  • Interfacing with integrated team to work collaboratively

Main Skills Required:

Candidates should have the following interests and knowledge:

  • Knowledge of reliability principles and instrumentation asset management within Oil & Gas and/or Process Industries
  • Knowledge of AMS Device Manager or other IMS systems
  • Experience reading/understanding P&IDs and engineering documentation
  • Innovative Thinking with the use of data to provide asset insights
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; ability to work effectively with personnel at site while based in Calgary
  • High proficiency with MS Office suite of products; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project
  • Quick to learn and adapt to new tools/processes
  • A Technical Diploma or degree in one of the following areas:
  • Instrumentation
  • Electrical/Process Engineering

Technical Skills Preferred (Not Required):

  • Working Experience at managing AMS Device Manager Systems
  • Knowledge of Wireless HART networking technology
  • Knowledge of Data Analytics including R-Script
  • Knowledge of GE APM(Meridium) and/or SAP
  • Prior experience in process historians (PI, PHD)
