Schedule Description
DUTIES

Provides a variety of clerical duties such as invigilating assessments and tests; maintaining currency with standardized testing procedures and practices; communicating assessment results; scheduling, coordinating and confirming assessments and tests; compiling assessment data; scoring tests; and performing receptionist functions. Provides library circulation functions and borrower services. Processes, maintains, and distributes library materials.



MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Invigilates computer-based and paper-based assessments and examinations.
  • Schedules, coordinates and confirms assessments and tests to be written in the centre.
  • Processes and forwards assessment/tests results to appropriate personnel in various TRU schools/division/departments.
  • Provides receptionist duties such as receiving visitors, answering the telephone, providing relevant information and directing to appropriate area.
  • Provides discreet and tactful service as the initial contact in the Assessment Centre.
  • Screens, redirects or handles enquiries as they arise.
  • Handles confidential tests and testing results in a professional manner.
  • Sets up and maintains filing system for correspondence and departmental records; maintains statistical records such as number of tests administered and number scored; and prepares invoices.
  • Assists with updating Williams Lake Assessment Centre informational handouts, manuals and webpages.
  • Completes ongoing training and certification for test supervision as required by external testing agencies
  • Maintains an inventory of tests and other office supplies.
  • Provides borrower services such as check-out, check-in, library accounts, library cards, holds, overdues, fines and reserves.
  • Processes and maintains TRU library materials in all physical formats.
  • Prepares correspondence and collects statistics.
  • Provides re-shelving and shelf reading to ensure library materials are properly placed on shelves as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

  • Grade 12 plus a one-year post-secondary certificate in a relevant discipline


EXPERIENCE:

  • Three years’ related experience including one years’ experience with relational data software and Microsoft Office.


SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE OR ABILITIES RELTED TO THE JOB

  • Demonstrated comfort with human diversity in the areas of culture, disability, mental health, gender and sexual orientation
  • Ability to exercise sound, independent judgement, resourcefulness, and sensitivity in the application of departmental guidelines for the provision of service.
  • Ability to perform electronic word processing at 60 wpm. and data entry
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel) and web applications
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to deal courteously, diplomatically, and effectively with a diverse range of students, staff, external agencies and members of the general public, including people under stress, and/or in distress and respond appropriately to emergencies
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic office procedures in a computerized environment
  • Strong organizational skills and able to multi-task
  • Ability to problem solve when issues arise with clients and/or testing activities


WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Ability to lift weights up to 10 kg
The salary for the above position is determined by the Collective Agreement with the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 4879, as it presently exists.
Pay Band
CUPE Grade 06 $27.06
Salary rate
This Position is not subject to a 90% start rate for new Employees.
