Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Assistant ED is responsible for managing FRAFCA Human Resources, supports capital development and acquisitions, supports stakeholder relations, and ensures accurate and timely Program management and reporting. The incumbent works well under pressure and is a highly organized and accountable team player.

Your Duties:

General Duties:

  • Assistant to Executive Director, acting in the capacity of 2nd in command and responsible for all duties of the Executive Director in her absence with specific responsibilities for Human Resources, Program Administration & Reporting, Stakeholder Relations, and Capital and operational development of the agency;
  • Support ED and executive team with staff management and program delivery
  • Assist Executive Director to implement FRAFCA’s vision and meet its organizational goals
  • Attends Provincial, Local, and National Board meetings;
  • Assist Executive Director with Strategic planning and implementation.
  • Support Executive Director and finance team with planning and operation of annual budget.
  • Assists with fundraising and developing other revenue streams necessary to support FRAFCA’s mission
  • Apply for grants and funding within community
  • Establish and maintain relationships with various organizations and utilize those relationships to strategically enhance FRAFCA’s Mission.
  • Assist Executive Director to review and approve contracts for services
  • Responsible for signing all cheques, notes, agreements, and other instruments made and entered into and on behalf of the organization
  • Manage program budgets and support program managers with delivery and management of contracts
  • Represent FRAFCA’s interests at community meetings
  • Oversees the policies, practices & staffing of FRAFCA programs. Identifies opportunities for improvement and resolves problems in collaboration with ED, HR manager and Program Managers responsible.
  • Oversees and manages the work of Program Managers & Coordinators;
  • Manages change and transition challenges, developing procedures, and guidelines to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of FRAFCA BOD;
  • Oversee and support program managers to meet contract deliverables and reporting requirements;
  • Coordinates monthly management meetings, and quarterly staff meetings
  • Attend periodic board meetings
  • Supervise, collaborate with organization staff.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Management or equivalent work experience in related fields;
  • Five (5) years or more or program managing experience;
  • Five (5) years or more of non-profit experience, preferably within an indigenous organization
  • Knowledge of indigenous cultures and lived history

Special Requirements:

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Criminal records check
  • Knowledge about working with a non-profit and an Indigenous organization
