Position: Breakfast Ambassador

Reports to: Rooms Division Manager

Hours of work: Part Time

Position Overview:

The Breakfast Attendant is responsible for setting up, maintaining and dismantling the buffet breakfast in the dining area. With a minimal supervision this person provides exceptional customer service during their shift having considerable guest interaction. This position requires monitoring of products, services and storage of breakfast and coffee service supplies. Following the breakfast shift, this position is responsible for cleaning and maintaining public and back of house areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Meet, greet and serve guests.
  • Assist guests; seat and pour coffee, clean tables and clean dining and buffet area.
  • Be familiar with and recommend menu items and beverage choices.
  • Set up, prepare and maintain supplies.
  • Preparation of breakfast area machines and dispensers.
  • Monitor and record storage of supplies in fridges and freezers.
  • Meet with food and beverage suppliers as required and make recommendations to Management.
  • Maintain back of house kitchen area
  • Ensure breakfast items replenished and presented in the appropriate set up.
  • Be familiar with the hotel products, services, TownePlace Suites and Marriott brand features and surrounding area.
  • Maintain health and safety standards in all areas of responsibility; maintain standards of cleanliness of work areas throughout the shift, practicing clean-as-you-go procedures.
  • Maintain the inventory of food and beverage products.
  • Familiarity to with point of sale and inventory software.
  • Conduct inventory of food, beverages and supplies for each day.
  • Assist with meeting room set up, tear down and cleaning.
  • Close out shift by cleaning and restocking supplies for next day or next shift.
  • Any other duties as requested by supervisor, management and/or ownership.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

· Able to push and/or pull equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

· Able to scrub and scour surfaces, extending arms overhead to perform cleaning tasks.

· Able to work in confined spaces.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

· Flexible – able to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.

· Excellent work ethic; must be honest and work well with others.

· Demonstrated knowledge of the practices and theories normally acquired in a related field or an equivalent combination of relevant education and relevant work experience.

· A thorough understanding of customer service

· Marriott or hotel chain working experience is an asset however, extensive training will be provided; both on the job and online.

· Ability to effectively communicate in English (verbally and/or non-verbally) to guests and Associates.

· Self-starter and great disposition.

· Professional appearance and positive attitude.

· Willing to “pitch-in”, support co- workers and a team player.

· Ability to lift, bend, stoop, walk, push or pull heavy equipment, and stand or walk for extended periods of time. Note: Lifting may include equipment or furniture weighing up to 100 lbs.

· Anticipate guest needs is a definite asset.

· Understanding of instructions from supervisor(s) and Management

This position is ideal for a candidate who is:

· Available to work weekends and/or weekday shifts starting from 5:00 am

· Located within a reasonable amount of commuting time and arrange their own transportation to/from the hotel.

Health & Safety:

The incumbent is required to work in accordance with the provisions of applicable Health and Safety legislation and all City of Hamilton, corporate and departmental policies and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety and current laws and bi-laws.

Terms of Employment:

Comply with attendance policies and be available to work on a regular basis.
