About the Role

We have an immediate need for a Business Development Manager, to support the Life & Wealth Team. The ideal candidate is flexible, possesses strong communication skills, willing to travel between 6 to 10 times a year, and creates and maintains relationships within the client account team. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing innovative business development strategies.


What You’ll Do

  • Make proactive calls in an effort to increase sales by uncovering opportunities and developing relationships
  • Actively participate in the development and successful execution of NFP’s corporate goals.
  • Work together and collaborate with Managing Director and sales enablement team to develop and execute a business plan to maximize sales nationally.
  • Analyze territory sales performance and create a strategic plan to generate growth.
  • Lead sales and client-relationship management
  • Manages and aids in the analysis, planning, research, and development of the organization’s objectives and strategic plans in order to achieve business opportunities, growth, and financial profitability.
  • Exhibit exceptional listening skills to obtain an understanding of the clients’ needs and determine the type of sales support necessary to accomplish the objective and add value to the products.
  • Develops plans to achieve growth and financial profitability via acquisitions, mergers, and/or divestitures.
  • Oversees and contributes to the development and research of building on company strengths, identifying potential new markets and business opportunities, increasing share of market, and obtaining a competitive position in the industry.
  • Stay up to date with trends and innovations in the life business industry
  • Stay up to date on external and internal developments to identify new market segments
  • Manage the account onboarding process for new acquisitions
  • Work closely with key partners to lead the process of pursuing key opportunities
  • Handle all confidential business matters as assigned, and work independently
  • Participate in-person meetings with the Managing Director and Zoom/Teams meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) or above, with relevant related experience business development experience
  • Relationship development skills
  • Demonstrate experience in selling life and Wealth financial products and management services
  • A high degree of professionalism
  • Expert-level communication skills and strong decision-making ability are essential
  • Must have the ability to interact diplomatically and professionally, while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality
  • Exceedingly well-organized, flexible, and strong organizational skills
  • Facilitation and Leadership skills
  • Ability to work on multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Insurance industry knowledge
  • Flexible working arrangement however, the ability to travel outside of Ontario

  • Strong ability to establish and maintain ongoing relationships with potential clients with a common goal of increasing company's share of insurance solutions.
  • Effective time management and decision making skills
  • Thoughtful process of analyzing data and problem solving to reach a well-reasoned solution

  • Understanding of the Life Insurance industry in order to make sound business decisions.

  • Ability to create new business for enablement team leveraging industry knowledge and Relationship
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Commanding presentation and public speaking abilities
