Camp Ranger will work in partnership with the Camp Warden. The Ranger will be responsible for ensuring the health and safety of the camp environment which welcomes Scouts. The ranger’s role will be to ensure our members and customers are welcomed to this wilderness playground. Do you think you have what it takes to become our next Camp Ranger at Camp Woodland Trails? General Responsibilities

Working in collaboration with the Warden to:

  • Maintain in good working order and to required safety standards all camp property and fixtures
  • Maintain the grounds in a safe manner, including required grass-cutting and snow removal
  • Maintain all camp facilities in a clean, hygienic condition meeting all health regulations
  • Ensures camp is secure and responds to any security concerns as required
  • Maintain camp tools and equipment in good working condition using applicable safety equipment
  • Maintain camp vehicles and watercraft in good working condition meeting current safety standards
  • Maintain all program material in safe and good working order
  • Ensure proper disposal of all waste materials following all applicable laws and regulations
  • Assist with construction and camp maintenance projects as directed

Support Camp Administration:

  • Supervision of arrivals and departures of facility user groups
  • Maintain open communications between Maintenance and Office Staff including Property Manager
  • Support positive relationships with facility neighbors and the local community
  • Where possible promote and encourage service projects by Scouting Groups
  • Promote facility usage and a positive image of Scouts Canada and Woodland Trails Camp
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all facility users, ensuring a positive camping experience

Proven success in the following job competencies:

  • Demonstrates ability to build strong relationships with all levels of staff, volunteers, guests and community members
  • Reliable, punctual and dependable with a proven ability to work independently as well as to perform effectively in a team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid project management skills and ability to coordinate, plan and schedule multiple projects at the same time
  • Exceptional organizational skills and time management to prioritize activities and allocate resources effectively

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience
  • Broad general knowledge of building and equipment maintenance
  • Current knowledge of processes to provide janitorial and custodian service
  • General working knowledge of administrative procedures
  • Understanding of applicable fire safety, environmental, health and safety code
  • Must role model values of Scouts Canada, including the Child and Youth Safety program
  • Clean PRC (Police Record Check) and VSS (Vulnerable Sector Check) required
  • Valid G class license in Ontario and Standard First Aid with CPR

Working Conditions

  • Frequent exposure to environmental conditions (rain, snow, heat and cold)
  • Most work outside year-round
  • Regular exposure to hazardous materials (paint, cleaning chemicals, fuel products, etc)

Salary depends on skills and experience. Starting salary is $49, 858.40
