The opportunity:

UM is looking for a Case Competition Coordinator. This position will support the growth of the case competition portfolio as well as coordinate and administer the program. This position will develop processes and procedures to support growing interest in case competitions, oversees the application process for competitions, educates key stakeholders on case competitions are and their benefits.

The qualifications and experience we’re looking for:

  • An undergraduate degree in a related discipline is required, preferably commerce.
  • Two (2) year of directly related administrative experience required.
  • Knowledge of the University of Manitoba and the I. H. Asper School of Business is strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of academic business case competition is strongly preferred.
  • Previous participation in case competitions would be an asset.
  • An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, coordinate and establish work priorities and deadlines required.
  • Excellent oral, written and visual communication skills, with the ability to provide advice and develop and present informational materials required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and the public in a diplomatic, firm but tactful and courteous manner required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in advance Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required.
  • Must be proficient in the use of online video conferencing platform such as Zoom.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team and independently required.
  • Must have highly developed organizational and multitasking abilities and be able to organize and prioritize workload required.
  • Must be able to cultivate strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Must be able to appropriately manage confidential information and situations.
  • Ability to make sound independent judgments and utilize problem-solving abilities required.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various levels of internal and external contacts required.
  • Ability to understand, empathize and interact with a diverse student population. Providing advice and navigating challenging conversations required.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, evening and weekends as required.
  • Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
