Employment Status Part Time Employment Type Casual Job Summary Specific Duties
  • Lock all doors, windows and gates at required times;
  • Open classrooms, doors, and gates when instructed and at the times specified;
  • Attend main entrance at scheduled time;
  • Do rounds and use security clock;
  • Assist public with directions, etc.
  • Be attentive to prevent loss from or damage of high security areas i.e. Computer Centre, Labs, A/V, Library, Bookstore, Offices;
  • Record and report all malfunctions and repairs;
  • Keep and maintain records, logs, room booking information and reports;
  • Watch for vandalism and report same;
  • Maintain security of parking lots, vehicles, and other equipment;
  • Shut off all machines that have been left on;
  • Monitor materials leaving building;
  • Transport cash and secure if required;
  • Monitor all alarms (fire, burglar, Power Plant computer, etc.);
  • Monitor all utilities in the building with particular attention to such things as water leaks, heat loss, lights, etc. In the absence of Custodial staff, clean up spills that pose a safety hazard;
  • Make a note of the times that various contractors fulfil their obligations with regard to parking lot maintenance;
  • Carry communications devices during shift as required;
  • In the event of an emergency the guard must notify the appropriate officials (police, fire, Chief Engineer, area manager, etc.);
  • Provide first aid as required;
  • You will be part of a team actively engaged in contributing to and accomplishing the vision, mission, and goals of the College and in supporting the aspirations and needs of our learners.
  • You will promote a positive work atmosphere by interacting and communicating in a professional manner that demonstrates mutual respect with students and colleagues.
  • Other related duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Two or more years related experience or completion of relevant security courses with one year minimum relevant experience;
  • Minimum Level 2 Occupational First Aid Ticket is required;
  • Must be bondable;
  • Must possess a valid minimum class 5 driver’s licence;
  • Good communication (oral and written) and public relations skills are required.
  • Basic security training certification required.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of computers (email, MS Office, etc.)
