Knowles Centre Inc. Winnipeg, MB

Knowles Centre

WE ARE LOOKING FOR A LEADER WHO CAN IMPACT OUR AGENCY AND OUR COMMUNITY

KNOWLES CENTRE RECRUITING NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Knowles Centre is seeking a Chief Executive Officer to take the helm of our agency and steer us into the future. This is a unique opportunity for a dynamic individual to transform our agency and influence the future of child welfare support services across Manitoba.

Knowles Centre has been a relevant not-for-profit community agency for over 115 years, currently providing 7+ treatment services and skill-based programs for almost 300 at-risk young people and their families each year.

Through the efforts and dedication of a team of over 150 employees, we help young people—many with histories of complex trauma or from families that have been challenged by generations of racism, addictions, violence or extreme poverty—to see that a better future is possible for them.

Knowles Centre is proud to be a trusted service partner of Indigenous groups from across Manitoba. We join in the call for reconciliation and support the inherent right of First Nations to make the best decisions to address the needs of their own children and families.

Just as society is changing, our agency must also evolve to meet these changes. The CEO will be called on to review and re-vision Knowles Centre’s place as a leader in the network of support for children, youth, and their families in Manitoba.

Knowles Centre is looking for someone with a diverse set of knowledge and skills, including:

· A strong leader who both inspires a team to reach beyond today, and is open to learning from our direct care staff who understand the day-to-day realities faced by our clients firsthand

· A visionary who sees a challenge for its potential to be the spark that leads to positive change, and engages an entrepreneurial spirit to define and enact the steps to reach creative solutions

· A natural communicator who values listening before talking, although never at the risk of not sharing important information with our many stakeholders

· A trusted advocate and friend to Manitoba’s diverse Indigenous communities, and one who possesses the respect and knowledge (whether through lived experience or dedication to self-education) of traditional Indigenous culture and beliefs, and how they can continue to be represented and honoured today

· A leader with the ability to take charge and manage difficult situations and crises confidently, and in an informed and timely manner even when the best decision may not be the most popular

· A grounded professional with experience dealing with the complexities of working with various levels of government, networking with kindred agencies, and engaging businesses and supporters to achieve a shared goal of a better community for all

· A key member of our fundraising team who can confidently reach out to our donors and speak with conviction about the importance of private financial support on our ability to help young people

· A detail-oriented manager who can focus on numbers (such as budgets and financials, output and outcome measurements, timelines, and results) but also understands that real people are behind the data and they cannot be overlooked

· Finally, a person who reads to the end and doesn’t miss the small print that outlines things such as: it would be advantageous that the CEO has a Ph.D. or master’s degree in a relevant area of study; proven success in progressive positions of responsibility; experience with HR matters and a unionized workplace; basic technological capabilities; policy development experience; high ethical standards and empathy; a concern for the wellbeing of children and families; and the ability to have fun

Salary will be negotiated. Knowles Centre provides a comprehensive extended benefits package and defined benefit pension plan.

The CEO reports to a strong and dedicated volunteer Board of Directors and is supported by a motivated staff who uphold the mission of the Knowles Centre every day.

Knowles Centre is committed to providing a safe environment for children and youth. All applicants will be thoroughly screened using background checks and an in-depth review process.
