Job Description

JOB SUMMARY


Maintain the building and grounds surrounding the assigned Child Care locations through housekeeping, landscaping, and snow and ice removal. Responsible for the cleaning duties to ensure the child care centre remains clean and sanitized. This includes the general maintenance of the building which consists of performing minor and routine painting, repairs and other minor related maintenance activities on the interior and exterior of the building. Perform maintenance and repair of equipment and children’s toys.


QUALIFICATIONS


EDUCATION

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.


KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 1-3 months experience in cleaning and light maintenance repairs in an institutional environment.


SKILLS

  • Must possess working knowledge of cleaning equipment and tools.
  • Must be able to work without direct supervision.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills


SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • In accordance with the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014, Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check Policy, the position requires a Canadian Police Clearance Certificate every 5 years and an Annual Declaration for each year subsequently.
  • Immunizations recommended by the Local Medical Officer of Health.
  • The following training courses, licenses and certifications are preferred and/or must be completed prior to employment
    • WHMIS Training
    • AODA Training
    • H &S Training
    • Confidentiality Training
    • Reading and signing off of Children’s Services Policies and Individualized Support Plans as required by the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014.
