Under the direction and supervision of the Maintenance Manager, the Mechanic/Millwright is responsible for providing technical expertise for overall plant mechanical systems, safety regulatory code and safety policies to ensure the mechanical needs of the plant are met.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience and Education/Training

· Journeyman Millwright Certificate Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

· Refrigeration Operator Class B is an asset

· Self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook, and a clear focus on high quality and business profit.

· Mature, credible, and comfortable in dealing with senior company executives.

· Reliable, tolerant, and determined.

· Self-motivated, takes initiative and works well independently with others.

· A strong customer service attitude.

· Able to read, write and speak in English. Intermediate arithmetic skills required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Organize daily maintenance working tasks, as assigned;

· Contribute to clean and hygienic working environment;

· Comply with all health and safety measures outlined by the company for all work processes;

· Responsible to perform preventative maintenance for machinery;

· Ensure Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) are followed at all times (i.e. picking up tools after repairs and their proper storage);

· Read diagrams and schematic drawings and service manuals to determine work procedures;

· Operate mobilized equipment and dollies to move heavy machinery and parts;

· Align and test equipment and make adjustments;

· Traceability – ensure coders are set correctly;

· Repair, maintain and adjust system components or remove and replace defective parts;

· Perform risk assessments and complete safe work permits and hot work permits;

· Install, replace, dismantle and repair machinery;

· Use rigging and hoisting devices such as pulleys and cables and hydraulic lifts;

· Assemble the machinery, fit bearings, align gears and wheels, attach motors and connect belts according to manufacturer’s blueprints and drawings;

· Operate hand and power tools;

· Perform hazard analysis (safe work agreement) prior to perform any activity;

· Keep work areas clean and tidy;

· Wear required uniform and PPE;

· Complete all documentation as required by the Food Safety Quality Management System;

· Conduct periodic inspections of work that are carried out by contractors to ensure they meet appropriate standards and Richardson safety and process policies;

· Follow up on the training process of any new Millwright in the department;

· Troubleshoot and correct equipment breakdowns;

· Ensure good maintenance practices are followed;

· Provide support for equipment change-overs and set-up;

· Conduct PMs (Preventative Maintenance) as assigned;

· Advise on whether the continued operation of equipment or a system could be hazardous;

· Actively participate in projects led by the Project Department, that involve new installations or modifications to the mechanical systems of the facility;

· Other duties as assigned.
