Duties

The primary duties of the Cleaner will be to conduct general cleaning of staff/office buildings, washrooms, and public facing areas including the visitor orientation centre and museum.

Work environment

Parks Canada is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada's outstanding natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites in all regions of Canada.

Fort Malden National Historic Site sits along the banks of the Detroit River in Amherstburg, Ontario. This historic setting includes remnants of the fortifications from the War of 1812 and Rebellions of 1837-38, as well as later periods in the site’s history. The successful candidate(s) will be working both indoors and outdoors on the heritage grounds.

Intent of the process

We are currently seeking to fill one Cleaner position at Fort Malden NHS. We are looking for a passionate and visitor focused team member who will work with others to provide awesome service to visitors at the site. This position is available from March 2023 – March 2024, and hours vary throughout the year. Approximate hours are May – September – 40 hours/week; Sept – Oct – 24 hours/week; Oct – March – 8 hours/week.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

Possession of a valid class G driver’s license;
Work shift-work, including evening, weekends, and holidays;
Wear a Parks Canada uniform as per the uniform policy;
Work outdoors in varying temperatures and inclement weather;
Parks Canada prohibits smoking in the workplace.
