The Ted Rogers Centre for Heart Research is a collaborative research and education program that spans across UHN, the Hospital for Sick Children and the University of Toronto. It seeks to provide the world with new diagnoses, treatments, and tools to help people prevent, manage, and survive the devastating consequences of heart failure. It also provides global leadership in the cardiac field and offers multiple research and clinical educational opportunities and training. As part of this Centre, the Ted Rogers Computational Program (TRCP) are currently recruiting a highly qualified Clinical Research Study Assistant.

We are seeking an energetic individual to join our team and facilitate human subject research and quality improvement projects, specifically local and large international quality improvement registries. Duties will include data entry, abstraction, validation, assessment and management; liaising with clinical teams for workflow development; project organization and information gathering. Responsibilities also include assisting with regulatory and policy compliance documentation including SOPs, submissions to Registry, Research Ethics or Quality Committees, privacy impact assessments and other relevant documentation. In addition, assisting with the generation of reports and presentations regarding data quality, project status, benchmarked metrics, staff and patient engagement. Tasks may also include administrative duties necessary for the project including expense tracking, filing, document management and other clerical duties relevant to the project. There may be opportunities to participate in active clinical research projects, including screening, communication and consent discussions with participants, conducting phone surveys and creating paper study packages.

Qualifications:

  • At minimum, completion of a Community College diploma in a health-related discipline or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • At minimum, 3 months related experience; clinical research experience preferred may be as part of an internship or paid co-op placement.
  • Formal clinical training and experience in a regulated clinical profession an asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable research regulations and guidelines such as ICH/GCP and Tri-Council Policy.
  • In-depth experience working with medical data and demonstrated ability to comprehend patient charts.
  • Previous experience with international data registries an asset.
  • Previous experience with cardiovascular clinical research preferred.
  • Experience with electronic medical record systems and data abstraction.
  • Previous experience with REDCap and/or Epic database software an asset.
  • Able to use reporting functions of technical systems to generate on demand reporting.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and perform in a fast-paced environment.
  • Well developed leadership skills; self-motivated.
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent listening, conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Client service oriented, with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand.
