POSITION: Commissionaire

LOCATION: Cataraqui Centre

HOURS OF WORK: 8-hour rotating shifts, (days, evenings, nights, weekends & holidays)

RATE OF PAY: $21.00 per hour

EFFECTIVE: Immediate opening

JOB SUMMARY:
To be in a Security Guard position, responsible to the Commissionaire Site Supervisor for the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of security at the Cataraqui Centre.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• must have excellent interpersonal communication skills,
• ability to communicate in a calm and confident manner when dealing with staff, tenants, and customers,
• ability to interact with the client in a concise and professional manner,
• must possess excellent written communication and computer skills, including experience with all Microsoft products i.e. Word, Excel, Access and Outlook,
• must have a comprehensive knowledge of client buildings including all locations and building layouts, and
• ability to work as part of a team or independently.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Represent the Commissionaires and the client professionally at all times,
• Respond promptly to emergency situations including contacting and interacting with all forms of emergency services personnel,
• Be familiar with alarms and procedures associated with site/building security,
• Maintain various access lists, key logs, and any register, as required,
• Assist customers with inquiries and complaints,
• Conduct foot/vehicle patrols, as required,
• Generate appropriate security reports, as required,
• Maintain a dialogue with the Site Supervisor at all times,
• Must read and follow site instructions & SOPs,
• Arm/Disarm alarm systems, bypass fire alarm system and initiate contact with Kingston Fire & alarm company,
• Deal with trespassing issues and trespass people as/if required,
• Assist site manager (deliveries, meeting visitors, etc),
• Review and download video footage from CCTV/security monitoring systems on request,
• Perform daily equipment room checks,
• Perform weekly building checks (roof, water meters, etc),
• Perform monthly duties (review tenant contact lists, check first aid equipment, check fire extinguishers, sort and dispose of lost & found items, etc),
• Perform semi-annual tenant inspections,
• Complete weekly bank deposits,
• Maintain Commissionaires vehicle (fuel, walk arounds, advise maintenance requirements, etc) and
• Perform any other security related duties, as detailed by the Site Supervisor and/or client.

REQUIRED SECURITY CLEARANCE:

None initially, Reliability preferred.
