The Communication Consultant will design, lead or support execution on medium to high-risk efforts that support the business unit's core strategies and may also design and lead end-to-end communication strategy on low- to medium-risk change initiatives.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
  • Design and lead the end-to-end execution of communication strategies on low-to-medium risk change initiatives that support the business unit's core strategies, adhering to the firm's Change framework and communication methodology, firm internal brand and voice, systems, and tools to ensure efficiency, consistency, and alignment with other capabilities.
  • Lead the strategic execution, activation, and performance of internal firm channels, through process management, strong technical acumen and targeted stakeholder needs. This could include digital, video and internal social media. Responsible for executing channel delivery, coordinating across multiple channels and collaborating with other change and communication (C&C) associates and leaders.
  • Demonstrate execution and consultation skills to anticipate and respond to shifts in strategy as warranted, leveraging data and stakeholder input to adjust the execution plan when necessary.
  • Identify and analyze communication metrics to optimize communication opportunities and resolution of problems across multiple projects.
  • Support communication channel best practices and preserve channel integrity by informing key stakeholders about channel guidelines that align with the firm’s internal brand and voice.
  • May informally lead multiple consultants and/or specialists that support the complex change management and communication execution efforts.
  • Consult with and provide self-service guidance to stakeholders on the firm's change management, communication, and communication channel best practices.
  • Partner with other areas of C&C and other enabling functions to plan and deliver a seamless, value-driven experience for our internal partners.
  • Partner with other team members to identify and assess risks, issues, and opportunities with impacts for stakeholders related to other changes underway and coordinate with those teams to integrate and align efforts, through the stakeholder lens.
  • Identify and recommend improvements in internal communications content and channel delivery to reflect industry "best-in-class" practices that will strengthen C&C's impact and value.
Span of Control & Influence
  • Advise and coach associates and leaders on communication and communication channel strategies.
  • Advise partner functions regarding change management, communication, and communication channel best practices.
  • Drive change by articulating project benefits and value.
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively navigate group dynamics and incorporate feedback into a solution that meets all parties' needs.
  • Assumes responsibility to communicate and deliver factual information; incorrect information could result in damage to the Edward Jones brand or reputation.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of communications, journalism, or marketing experience
  • Strong communication, writing and editing skills for different media an organizational/project managements skills, including the ability to deliver under strict guidelines
  • Demonstrated ability to work with teams and learn new technologies
  • Strong intrapersonal skills and judgement
  • Demonstrated success navigating complex, dynamic environments
  • Effectively build strong relationships to influence and gain consensus with peers and leaders
Preferred:
  • Degree in Journalism, Communication, English, web development or related degree/equivalent work experience preferred
  • Experience in financial services, other highly regulated industries and change management
  • Comprehensive knowledge of internal communication strategies and delivery and how they can be integrated with other processes and tools
  • Prosci certification
