Position

The Computer Service Technician (CST) position holds a crucial role in the maintenance and improvement of new and existing computer hardware and software. The CST helps Rapid Novor’s technical team achieve a high standard, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations on the technical side of the business. This allows for a reliable environment for employees to work on Rapid Novor’s world-class research and services. Candidates should be comfortable communicating with a variety of team members, as the CST is often a common point of contact for technical issues. The ideal CST candidate is comfortable with troubleshooting simple software issues on a variety of devices and be confident to tackle new challenges. Alongside this, they should also be comfortable with hands on assembly and disassembly of technical hardware for upgrading or troubleshooting. Additionally, the candidate will have a mindset for actively learning new technologies, as the business is constantly adding to our technological portfolio of software and hardware.

Responsibilities include

- Working with the senior-level IT team to complete daily IT operational tasks, including frontline support and troubleshooting
- Replacing, repairing or adding computer related parts to new and existing computer hardware, candidate should be comfortable with common parts and their associated software Ex. Operating systems, drivers, control software.
- Communicating with employees for first-contact helpdesk issues, this may include initial troubleshooting of windows or mac systems, applications, printers, and access to work related websites or services.
- Work with assigned IT helpdesk tickets, handling them in an appropriate priority sequence when required, and informing senior-IT of complex issues that may be present
- Aid in performing basic routine operational checks of IT-related systems
- Assuring IT-related tasks follow company policies when performing routine work
- Maintain logs and records of services performed for employees and on IT equipment

Required Skills & Experience

- A degree or diploma from a post-secondary institution in Information Technology (IT), Computer Systems, Computer Science, or similar.
- 0-1 years of experience in a Computer Service Technician, Helpdesk Technician, IT Technician L1 role is an asset
- CompTIA A+ for Help Desk Technician or similar is an asset, but not required
- Strong customer service skills and experience, a desire to help and experience resolving technical issues is an asset
- Well organized with strong written and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- A demonstrated ability with analytical subjects and a history of problem-solving issues
- Experience in prioritizing workloads and executing solutions
- Basic technical knowledge of Linux, Windows and Mac operating systems, their basic maintenance tools, and how to troubleshoot common issues that arise
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware such as processors, motherboards, and data drives.
- Ability to help maintain and support frontline IT devices, like printers and computers
- Experience with Microsoft Office 365 and Google G-Suite services and applications
- Basic knowledge of foundational IT concepts, such as TCP/IP
- Must be comfortable with occasional heavy lifting
- Must be comfortable with working on technical hardware such as laptops, desktops and IoT devices
