Job description: Construction Superintendent

  • Always regard Health & Safety as paramount. Actively participate in the maintenance of safe working environments, and immediately report any observed hazards to Management, and implement corrective measures. Always lead by example and promote a safe, healthy working environment. H&S Training / Certification Program provided.
  • Lead, direct and supervise Colleagues, Subcontractors, Suppliers, Inspectors and Customers in a professional and effective manner.
  • Assist with the development of project schedules/timelines and actively participate in the timely completion of activities to achieve progress milestones.
  • Train, support and communicate with colleagues as needed to ensure a safe and productive working environment.
  • Plan, prioritize, organize, coordinate and execute daily work tasks to maintain progress and achieve project milestones.
  • Assist with the estimating, procurement and safe handling/storage of materials and equipment.
  • Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to fully understand requirements. Ask questions and/or participate in the development of solutions for construction methods and techniques.
  • Cut, shape, smooth and fasten lumber and other construction materials according to measurements, manufacturers’ instructions and industry best practices.
  • Build, form, pour, place and finish concrete footings, piers, ICF walls, hollowcore concrete sections.
  • Build walls, roofs, frames, openings, stairs, decks, etc., using a combination of raw materials and pre-constructed / panellized products (SIPs).
  • Construct timber structures, decorative trusses, accent brackets.
  • Install windows & doors, strapping, siding, soffit, fascia, metal roofing, flashings, etc.
  • Craft and assemble architectural trim work, panelling, cabinetry, shelving and other items.
  • Occasional priming, painting, staining, temporary protections, etc.
  • Build scaffolding and other temporary structures in a safe manner.
  • Participate in general labour work when required, and actively contribute to site cleanliness and organization.

Construction Superintendent Requirements:

  • Proficient in a variety of computer software applications including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), BlueBeam, etc.
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Building Code.
  • Multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Energetic, ambitious and self-motivated. Must be able to work independently, and as part of a team.
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license with clean record and good driving habits.
  • Prior construction leadership experience, and/or a certificate from an accredited Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, or design-related post-secondary program.
  • Safely operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools, including hammer, drills, power saws, pneumatic tools, laser levels, chainsaw, etc.
  • Preference for Red Seal license, or interest in obtaining certification.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, Fixed term contract

Salary: $70,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
