The Senior Consultant supports the mission of the Medicine and Digestive Health Strategic Clinical Networks (SCNs) by leading the development, management, implementation and evaluation of provincially scoped SCN activities. The work is of an advanced nature and the incumbent is expected to manage complex issues during the design and implementation process. The Senior Consultant is a professional position reporting to the Senior Provincial Director, Medicine & Digestive Health SCNs. The incumbent works with a high degree of independence and actively contributes to a positive team culture. The incumbent will facilitate working groups composed of multiple stakeholders from across the health system and utilize evidence-based approaches for improvement and innovation.

The Senior Consultant supports the mission of the Medicine and Digestive Health Strategic Clinical Networks (SCNs) by leading the development, management, implementation and evaluation of provincially scoped SCN activities. The work is of an advanced nature and the incumbent is expected to manage complex issues during the design and implementation process. The Senior Consultant is a professional position reporting to the Senior Provincial Director, Medicine & Digestive Health SCNs. The incumbent works with a high degree of independence and actively contributes to a positive team culture. The incumbent will facilitate working groups composed of multiple stakeholders from across the health system, utilize organizational approaches for improvement and innovation, and coordinate with appropriate departments within AHS. In collaboration with SCN leadership teams, the Senior Consultant provides leadership to ensure SCN activities are delivered within scope, cost, time, and quality across the organization. The incumbent, in close consultation with the SCN Senior Provincial Director, will interpret organizational needs, assess requirements and recommend solutions to complex non-standard issues and requests. The Senior Consultant will: Gather, analyze, synthesize and coordinate leading practices, and quantitative and qualitative data to inform recommendations leading to the development of provincial strategic plans and new approaches to care delivery; Support Transformational Roadmap development, implementation and evaluation Develop innovative approaches to address system issues with sustainable solutions; Guide evaluation of SCN activities and develop performance measures/targets in concert with others; Link with appropriate departments within AHS to coordinate access to available services.

Required Qualifications:

Master’s or research based degree in a health related field. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development.


Additional Required Qualifications:

In addition, the incumbent will possess a record of accomplishment in the following areas: Extensive knowledge of the health system. Demonstrated working knowledge of quality improvement, systematic reviews and critical appraisal skills. Strong facilitation and mediation skills. Experience managing physical and human resources and related financial / statistical information. Significant experience in problem solving, concerns resolution, investigation, and negotiation. Team leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Demonstrated ability to foster relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, influential skills, client focused orientation and commitment to providing quality services; ability to relay or explain complex issues or difficult situations. Demonstrated ability to facilitate change and/or certification in change management.


Preferred Qualifications:

5 or more years experience in quality improvement, knowledge management and or management in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity is preferred (healthcare experience an asset).
