The Cost Controller will work within a project team based at the LNG Canada site in Kitimat, BC, providing support across multiple areas including progress claims, cost reforecasting, risk management and commercial analysis. The Cost Controller will be required to implement, administer, and maintain cost control processes, procedures, and systems to track budgets, commitments, expenditures and forecasts, and to assist in the preparation and review of cost estimates and schedules across the Company and its supporting contracts / projects.

Key Objectives:

  • Promote standardized systems and ways of working in accordance with the Altrad Management System (AMS).
  • Foster a positive, high performing team culture which strives to continually improve
  • Liaise with Clients to confirm commercial processes, resolve clarifications and resolve any disputes
  • Review cash conversion cycle and undertake root cause analysis on delays
  • Monitor Project Cost Control and manage risk by highlighting shortfalls
  • Effectively utilize systems for claims, payroll and cost tracking, and support process improvements
  • Perform quality assurance over payroll and time keeping data
  • Identify cost drivers and provide optimization strategies to empower budget owners
  • Oversee the provision of accurate information to facilitate invoicing and cash recovery against predetermined contract terms

Main Activities:

  • Ensure consistency in approach, as per AMS processes and procedures, across the Cost Control function.
  • Assist in the preparation and review cost and revenue accruals for month end reporting.
  • Review and advise on sub-margin analysis on labour, materials, equipment and indirect costs against budgets and forecasts.
  • Provide analysis concerning the underlying cost performance of the project(s) / contract(s).
  • Assist in the preparation and review of monthly, project and financial year forecasts at complete.
  • Assist in the preparation of the monthly progress payment schedules to the Client.
  • Resolve barriers (internal and external) to submission of monthly claims.
  • Provide feedback to Estimating and Finance teams concerning current cost trends
  • Review provisions, review balance sheet accounts and ensure ERP(Pronto) transactions are recognized in line with relevant Accounting Standards
  • Demonstrate a willingness and capability to perform other duties as deemed appropriate and consistent with your professional qualifications, skill, or experience

Qualifications & Experience

  • 5 Years’ experience in a similar role
  • Professional Qualifications: Qualified Accountant or Cost Engineering
  • Cost control experience in the execution of various contracts and projects including but not limited to term maintenance, unit rates, lump sum and schedule of rates.
  • Demonstrated experience balancing and organizing multiple project or assignments.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience using Microsoft Power Query, Power Pivot and Power BI is preferred
  • Experienced in using large corporate ERP systems and skilled in analyzing large volume data
  • Experienced in stakeholder management; ability to interface effectively and collaborate with clients, Management, other internal functions and subcontractors.
  • Strong communication skills.

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 24 months
