The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) is a unique program of the B.C. government tasked with the responsibility of preventing and managing unwanted wildfire on the landscape. Approximately 1,600 field workers – comprising technical experts, strategic thinkers, and fire operations staff – are dedicated to undertaking the BCWS mandate in delivering effective wildfire management and emergency response support to protect life and values at risk, encouraging sustainable, healthy, and resilient ecosystems.

This position will support the BCWS communications and engagement team by helping with the management of video and photo assets created by staff across the province. Activities include reviewing video and photo content and determining if the images are suitable for use internally and/or externally. The individual will edit video and photos for immediate and future use, including researching and drafting social media posts to accompany content.

Job Requirements:

  • Currently completing post-secondary studies in Computer Science, Library and Information Studies/Technology, Communications, Marketing, Business, Public Relations, Journalism or a related area.
  • Currently registered in a recognized co-op program at a participating post-secondary institution.


Preference may be given to candidates with:

  • Strong computer skills.
  • Video and photo editing experience.
  • Solid writing and editing skills.
  • Experience with graphic design.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 3 days at home per week as per the Telework Agreement.
