We are excited to recruit for a temporary, full-time Customer Service Representative. Please note: This is a full-time term position for up-to one year.

As a key contributor, the Customer Service Representative is responsible for providing excellent customer service both in person and over the telephone, cash receipting, and front-line support through clerical assistance and public interaction. They refer residents to over 18 different business units which requires a broad knowledge of staff functions and business unit scope of work. This is a fast-paced role which, at times, requires organizing competing priorities. We are looking for someone with excellent customer service skills, a problem-solving nature, and a positive attitude.

As the Customer Service Representative, you will:
  • Greet and provide customer service to visitors at Cochrane offices by directing them as appropriate and answering general inquiries.
  • Operate a multi-line switchboard and direct calls as appropriate.
  • Process, sort and distribute incoming/outgoing mail, courier packages, faxes and electronic mail.
  • Process payments for utilities, development permits, business licenses, animal licenses, assessment & taxation, bylaw tickets, regional transit and other services.
  • Balance of register/point of sale terminal at the end of the day and completing a daily bank deposit slip. Responsible for the daily cash reconciliation for all Cochrane sites.

  • Certificate in office administration or equivalent
  • Minimum 1-year related experience with customer service and/or office environment
  • Basic accounting/cash handling skills
  • Knowledge of multi-line switchboard
  • Experience working with Diamond software is an asset
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Strong organizational, time management and multitasking skills
  • Demonstrated strong customer service and troubleshooting skills
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
