Flair Airlines is currently seeking a permanent, full-time Data Analyst to join our growing and ever-changing organization. The Data Analyst can be based out of or Edmonton, AB (YEG) or Toronto, ON (YYZ) and some travel may be required.

The Data Analyst will work as a business partner, providing analytical support to inform strategic decisions. They will play a key role in the team, providing analysis and insights as well as facilitating key decisions related to various operational metrics. This position is ideal for the professional who is passionate about aviation and wants to add value to a fast-growing organization. Ideally, the analyst is someone who can ask the right questions, make sense of messy data and develop reliable solutions.


Primary Job Functions:

The duties of the Data Analyst include:

  • Collaborate with business leaders to analyse levers that impact operational performance.
  • Analyse various kinds of datasets to provide performance insights and build optimization models, in conjunction with domain experts.
  • Present complex, technical data in an easily digestible way in order to influence business change based on derived insights.
  • Build effective, efficient working relationships with the sales team, finance, operations, maintenance and technology partners.
  • Develop models in Python/SQL to automate and streamline processes.
  • Develop insightful and interactive PowerBI dashboards.
  • Be the expert in everything data from data profiling, identifying business rules.
  • Work with data engineers on development of pipelines.
  • Develop and maintain documentation on data qualities, business rules and glossaries.
  • Assist in implementing data governance.


Safety Duties, Accountabilities, Authorities and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the Safety Management System (SMS) within the Information Technology department;
  • Involved in proactive and reactive safety issues;
  • Demonstrate knowledge of employee responsibilities regarding safety and actively participate in the company’s Safety Management System (SMS) program;
  • Initiate the creation and implementation of corrective actions plans as a result of Event/Hazard Reports, Preventative/Corrective Action Request (PCAR) or audit findings; and
  • Encourage active participation in the SMS for all personnel.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 5+ years’ experience working in high-performance environments in revenue management, finance, strategy consulting, or another business intelligence / analytics role
  • Prior experience in aviation or a passion for aviation is highly preferred
  • University degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to be comfortable in ambiguity, multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to collect, analyze and interpret data and statistics using quantitative and qualitative methods.
  • Proficiency with analytical tools such as Excel, SQL, PowerBI /Tableau. Familiarity with R or Python is preferred.
  • A strong drive to work independently in an entrepreneurial environment, as well as a willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Must demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and process improvement.
  • Clear criminal record check and satisfactory employment references.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Previous airline technology experience is an asset.
