The Ministry of Citizens’ Services (CITZ) delivers key services that people rely on. CITZ delivers accessible, multi-channel services, through a single-point-of-contact service approach to people in urban and rural communities through Service BC, and delivers the digital face of government at www.gov.bc.ca.

BC Registries & Online Services facilitates and supports commerce in the province through the administration and verification of business, personal property and manufactured home registrations. BC Online is government’s electronic service delivery channel for online access to information products and services.

Reporting to the Senior Database Administrator, the Database Analyst is responsible for establishing and managing data warehouse and related technologies to meet the information needs of branch leadership.

Job Requirements:

  • Degree, diploma, certification in the computer science or equivalent field such as Information Management/Information Technology, Information Science, Software Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a technical role administering and supporting complex business applications serving a large, geographically distributed user base.
  • Experience in relational database administration, and with data warehouse or data lake administration.
  • Experience at assessing the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques.
  • Experience with data management and extract/transform/load technologies.
  • Experience creating and delivering presentations for the purpose of decision making.
  • Experience in data modelling, process modelling, and business analysis techniques.

Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Experience using Google Cloud Platform, Power BI, R, Python, SQL, Java, Go, JavaScript, and Excel
  • Experience with cloud and distributed data/computing tools such as Redshift, BigTable, DigitalOcean, Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Gurobi, Beam.
  • Experience with visualization and presentation tools such as Periscope, Business Objects, D3, ggplot
  • Experience with Oracle and Postgres Enterprise Database Administration
  • Experience leveraging structured and unstructured data sources and using statistical computer languages to conduct quantitative analysis.
