POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is accountable to lead a team to define, effectively implement, and ensure adherence to company quality systems and critical quality protocols, build relationships with company-wide customers and comply with their quality requirements. This role is responsible to continually improve the manufacturing process to achieve world-class quality and flawless launches.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Engineering Degree/Diploma
  • A.S.Q certification as a Quality Engineer, or Management preferred
  • 5 years related leadership experience in an automotive environment
  • Six Sigma/RedX/Lean training preferred
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Experience maintaining and improving IATF16949 business systems
  • Experience with APQP, PPAP submissions, GD&T, Flow Diagrams, FMEA’s, Control Plans, Statistics and fixture development
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct root cause analysis using various problem solving techniques
  • Ability to uphold confidentiality
  • Demonstrates the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to work overtime to meet customer needs

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads the department by developing plans and setting objectives that support the Business Plan and will move the team forward
  • Process Lead and Champion to align quality culture and systems to Mafact standards
  • Works with customers to develop positive relationships
  • Actively participates as a dynamic and progressive member of the leadership team to strengthen Modatek’s ability to perform and grow to meet its maximum group potential
  • Leads and builds an effective and empowered team, that includes, customer/supplier quality engineering, shop floor inspection, tooling, calibration, CMM, weld & test labs that has the skills and motivation to generate quality output while meeting departmental and divisional goals
  • Develops team members through coaching and mentoring while holding them accountable to meet performance expectations and to comply with all operational procedures
  • Develops, recommends and implements growth and educational programs for department personnel. Develop succession plans for key performers and ensure cross training/back up plans in place
  • Develops, recommends and implements department operating budget and recommends, implements and develops capital packages
  • Scheduling, implementation and the monitoring of all departmental activities to ensure timely completion of projects
  • Plans and monitors new program development and ensures flawless launches
  • Manages the divisions Quality Management System and ensures conformance to IATF16949
  • Manages customer and supplier quality concerns ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Ensures evaluation of and reporting on vendor quality performance
  • Participates in layered audit process and ensure actions are implemented
  • Collects and correlates relevant data that pertains to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the department. Assessing trends through generated graphs and charts and challenges proficiency. Keeps current with new products, processes, materials and equipment technologies
  • Maintains continuous improvement project tracking and report out status monthly

Conducts periodic management review meetings.

  • Tracks and reports on customer warranty performance
  • Promotes and initiates continuous improvements and cost reduction opportunities
  • Follows and complies with all Operational Procedures and Policies as outlined in theEmployee Handbook, Quality and Environmental programs (ie. IATF16949, ISO14001)
  • Understands, promotes and lives by Magna’s philosophies and Employee Charter

  • Performs other duties as required

WORK AND PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT

  • Travel required, sometimes on short notice
  • Static shifts but able to accommodate flex shifts as required
  • Required to be in the plant for various durations of time
  • Physically able to perform the essential duties of the position
