Editorial assistantship: Social Sciences and/or Philosophy (+ related) Job at Editorial Collective

Editing Press is a collective of academics from Oxford and Cambridge universities who are also professional editors. Our collective is currently looking to expand its roster of academic editors, particularly with individuals who are at the postgraduate level or higher in the social sciences and/or philosophy (and related fields).

The role is for an editorial assistantship and would be ideal for someone looking for part-time and flexible employment on the side of their academic commitments. The ideal candidate will be a postgraduate or junior academic, or otherwise involved in academic research.

Required Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a postgraduate degree in the humanities, social sciences, and sciences—especially in: the social sciences; philosophy (esp. philosophy of science); urban studies; and biology.
  • At least two years of editorial experience in proofreading and/or copyediting at an academic level. General familiarity with standard style guides such as APA would be an advantage.
  • Exceptional diligence and conscientiousness in respect of editorial deadlines.

We invite interested candidates to submit their CV and a short writing sample no later than 1 July 2022 (n.b., applications will be considered on a rolling basis). Shortlisted candidates will be invited to undertake a paid trial edit and an interview.

Job Types: Part-time, Freelance
Part-time hours: 20-40 per week

Salary: $25.00-$45.00 per hour
