You will share sound interpretation on AMA policies relating to leaves and provide expertise on legislated leaves. WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Be the subject matter expert for the various AMA leave programs to support both employees and leaders through medical and non-medical adjudication and/or leave process.
  • Interpret leave programs and policies in accordance with established practices and applicable legislation.
  • Ensure relevant and appropriate medical documentation is provided within required timeframes.
  • Work closely with third party disability management professionals to ensure the employee and the case managers remain connected.
  • Provide extensive case management and coordinate both work-related and non-work-related injury/illness management processes.
  • Work with the business areas to facilitate re-integration and return-to-work planning and coordination.
  • Request an ergonomic assessment, job coaching and physical or cognitive demands analysis and job match analysis to facilitate work accommodations or return to work plans when required.
  • Liaise and ensure timely completion of all documents with other health care professionals, third party consultants, disability insurance carriers and Worker’s Compensation Boards.

  • Continue to strengthen our administrative processes and documentation practices to ensure accuracy of information, historical data and compliance.
  • Manage administrative aspects of leave and workers’ compensation claims to ensure accurate entry into our HR and Payroll systems.
  • Track leave of absences and follow up on required documentation such as medical certifications, requests for extended leaves, and other required information.
  • Identify and bring forward trends or issues relating to employee leaves and disability claims.
  • Compose reports and correspondence to ensure communication between employees, leaders, HR and external partners is timely and consistent.
  • Partner closely with Business Unit leaders and HR Advisors to provide insightful and relevant updates as to the status of employee leaves.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with external partners and escalate any service level issues.
  • Attend meetings with Business Unit leaders and HR Advisory team to review and discuss complex leaves and/or disability claims.


WHAT YOU’VE DONE

  • You have a post-secondary diploma or degree in Human Resources, or Disability Management or a related field.
  • You have at least 4-5 years under your belt working in a disability management environment.
  • You’re well versed in dealing with the Workers Compensation Board, including a strong understanding of medical terminology.
  • Bonus points for having or working toward your CDPM or CEBS designation.
