Our Fleet Engineering & Asset Management Office is seeking an Engineering Assurance Analyst, to provide analytical services in support of, Locomotive procurement, monitor performance trends, and assurance to contract compliance.

What will I be doing?

  • Reviewing Locomotive contract specifications related to performance, quality assurance and ensuring the contractor meets all regulatory requirements. Participating in contract design review meetings. Ensuring contractor adherence to all governing regulations.
  • Reviewing locomotive engineering and technical development practices
  • Supporting whole-life cost modelling processes and methods
  • Writing reports and making presentations
  • Able to support the development, selection and communication of metrics and performance results of key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Supports the development and assignment of numerical values to essential functions so that the performance can be assessed and compared over periods of time including formulating asset information requirements and structured classifications.
  • As directed, responsible for the receival, entry, retrieval and storage of engineering documents and data to assigned information management systems, data bases, and document storage facilities.
  • Collaborates with internal and external business clients, partners, and external stakeholders in the development of the asset class functions and data analysis and reporting capabilities.
  • Provides input and recommendations to establish maintenance programs in accordance with manufacturers stipulated or recommended requirements and relevant codes of practice
  • Develops and maintains consistent and professional corporate rail equipment standards and practices for the preparation, execution, and distribution of technical documentation
  • Supports the control and development of new and agency retained assets and provides support and recommendations for asset development and SOGR programs to meet corporate objectives and customer levels of service requirements.

What skills & qualifications do I need?

  • Completion of a University Degree, or diploma, in Engineering, Engineering Science or Management or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in the engineering field
  • Preference for persons with 4 years locomotive experience
  • Ability to support the development of technical standards and requirements
  • Completion of a University Degree, or Diploma, in Engineering, Engineering Science or Management
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering technology applications to analyze and amend electrical/mechanical blueprints
  • Support asset strategy development to guide and support the procurement of all items and services needed to achieve the asset class RAMS and condition targets.
  • Analytical skills to investigate equipment failures, interpret equipment performance, and recommend corrective actions
  • Possesses strong mathematical skills to help collect, measure, organize and analyze data
  • Knowledgeable in and able to deploy programming languages like SQL, Oracle, R, MATLAB, and Python or equivalent platforms
