Summary of Business:

Amphenol (www.amphenol.com) is one of the largest manufacturers of interconnect products in the world. We design, manufacture and market electrical, electronic and fiber optic connectors, coaxial and flat-ribbon cable, and interconnect systems. The primary end markets for our products are communications and information processing markets, including cable television, cellular telephone and data communication and information processing systems; aerospace and military electronics; and automotive, rail and other transportation and industrial applications. Amphenol Ceramics, a business unit of Amphenol Canada Corp, develops and manufactures tubular and planar array capacitor products for use within filter connector products.


Job Description:

This is an engineering manager position with responsibilities to lead your team, coordinate, and manage the design, processes, qualification and launch of new products; while also developing business opportunities to further expand the sale of these products.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership and oversight to the design and process development teams to support objectives for project completion.
  • Align team priorities and work assignments to maintain critical project milestones and customer commitments
  • Lead the ACF engineering team to develop new product designs, coordinate prototyping efforts and launch them into production.
  • Direct engagement with customers and sales on definition of product roadmaps, new product requirements and committed timelines
  • Support development of marketing/engineering proposal concepts.
  • Provide management with monthly project status reports
  • Provide mentorship to engineering team in support of employee development objectives
  • Resolve engineering and design related issues as they may occur
  • Check, approve and process drawings, BOMs, Item Masters
  • Perform mechanical simulations and tolerance analyses as required
  • Ensure designs meet both price, performance, and manufacturability requirements in order to win new business
  • Interface with customers and with other Amphenol locations, to ensure that collaborative teams are working to common goals
  • Occasional business travel.
  • Other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in materials or ceramics engineering, or equivalent
  • 10+ years engineering experience
  • Working experience in 2D or 3D CAD systems – AutoCAD / SolidWorks
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Excellent English communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate a team in support of product development and growth

Desired:

  • Knowledge of connectors
  • 5+ years of Project management skills
  • Experience with engineering of ceramic capacitor products
  • Experience with process manufacturing of ceramic capacitors
  • Proven tolerance analysis skills
  • Legally able to travel in N/A, Europe and Asia
  • FEA simulation and modeling skills
  • Working knowledge of industry standard capacitor manufacturing techniques
  • Working knowledge of EMI filter connector requirements and industry standard practices
