Engineering - Project Manager - Cladding

Reports to the Manager on all matters. The Project Manager oversees and directs all aspects of his/her assigned projects from the award of the project, through drafting and design, takeoff to fabrication to delivery to installation. The PM ensures the project meets the schedule/budgets.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Architectural Technology, Construction Management or Civil Engineering
  • Working towards a Project Management Professional Certification is an asset
Working Conditions
  • On site visits requires wearing proper PPE for all site work and in certain other locations
  • At times requires driving to visit sites
  • Flexible to work overtime as required
  • Follow Health & Safety Standards on site
  • Health and Safety training required (Working at Height, WHIMIS)
Intermediate Level
  • Minimum 3-5 years of Project Management experience
  • Knowledgeable in the cladding industry, products and cladding systems
  • Ability to function as a mentor
  • Ability to problem solve, make decisions as required
  • Communication with coworkers daily (phone,email,virtual meetings)
  • Ability to work on complex projects & multiple projects
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Detail oriented with the ability to read architectural, electrical, mechanical & structural drawings
  • Proficient at using the following computer software: Microsoft Word, Project & Excel
  • Ability to learn new cladding systems, software, and assembly methods
  • Demonstrate State's core values and teamwork
Job Specific Duties
  • Check and ensure that all necessary drawings/documents to start the shop drawings have been received. (Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical in CAD and Hardcopies preferably IFC drawings)
  • Review the contract scope of work with the Estimator to discuss what was included in our scope of work
  • Coordinate with the Drafter regarding color samples and product sample submittals (color finish, products)
  • Release (BOM) bill of material, shop work orders (SWO) and IFC shop drawings for installation
  • If the project is guaranteed, confirm dimensions with builder
  • Prepare closeout documents
  • Discuss and inform Manager with project issues
  • Follow up weekly with any outstanding RFI's & CCO's
  • Review site instructions with drafter to determine the quantity & cost implications
  • Coordinate as required with architect and contractor. If verbal, follow up with email
  • Attend coordination meeting, if necessary
  • Review & submit shop drawings for approval including revisions
  • Submit shop drawings to Professional Engineers for review
  • Review shop drawings from the GC per comments made by the architect and other trades
  • Submit RFI's for discrepancies between contract drawings, scope of work, and installation issues
  • Arrange meetings as required such as scope of work meeting, project startup meeting, kick off meeting, design change meetings, project closeout
  • Update daily project matrix schedule
  • Coordinate installation with installers
  • Any other tasks assigned by the manager
