Where does the_ Design Engineer (EV)_ fit in?

As the Design Engineer (EV), you will be responsible for the full mechanical design of the EV, from components, interior/exterior and systems included but not limited to: Chassis, suspension, body panels, vehicle packaging, head & tail lights etc. for the EV. The Design Engineer (EV) will be responsible to ensure designs are robust for function and manufacturing. Scope of responsibility includes product design from concept to launch, components/system packaging, releasing 2D drawing and 3D models, performance specifications and production product issue resolution.

What you can expect as our next Design Engineer(EV)?

  • Work within a multidisciplinary development team to provide mechanical design solutions and analysis solutions to meet design specifications. Design projects include, but are not limited to:

o Chassis and Suspensions

o Interior/Exterior

o Overall vehicle mechanical design

  • Support with High performance Test and Measurement Solutions
  • Apply FEA and CFD analysis tools to evaluate linear and non-linear materials (parts and assemblies) in terms of predicting: static & dynamic loading, stress states, fatigue, reliability (SJR), thermal behavior/performance, warpage/deformation, modal response, and combined thermal/stress/strain/deformation behavior
  • Utilize CAD software to create 3D drawings and schematics of parts, assemblies and technical renderings.
  • Perform design risk assessments and define appropriate mitigations.
  • Work with process and test engineering teams to ensure alignment of designs with process and test capabilities.
  • Ensuring the attachment points of designed parts, components and systems as well as defining assembly methods
  • Managing and overseeing outsourced design and testing vendor
  • Perform detailed statistical tolerance analysis of products and test fixturing/assembly tooling.
  • Generate documentation including design specifications, part drawings, assembly drawings, Bill of Materials, common feature drawings and process flows
  • Document updates to designs and ensure that any changes are recorded and prepared in accordance with engineering change procedures.
  • Support the definition and management of project plans to meet end deliverables and help coordinate activities within the multidisciplinary development team.
  • Support prototype builds and engineering design verification to ensure compliance to requirements.
  • Ensure compliance to all component designs and process and coordinate with team members to reduce timeframe for all products.
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.

Are you our next Design Engineer(EV)?

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering field
  • Minimum of 5+ years’ work experience in electric/hybrid powertrain system design
  • Experience in Electric Vehicle design and development, designing components manufactured
  • Proficient in the use of 3D CAD design software
  • Experience using (and validating results of) FEA and flow analysis tools
  • Independent decision making with minimal supervisionSelf-starter with the ability work both autonomously and as part of a team, hands-on attitude
  • Demonstrated success with engineering problem solving approach
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority
  • Demonstrated success working in cross-functional, multi-location teams
  • Highly developed computer skills using design/analysis and Microsoft Office software tools
