What is Evening Response Outreach?

Evening Response Outreach team whose focus is serving individuals experiencing homelessness and living outdoors. Two Evening Response Outreach staff work at a time; handing out beverages, food, and winter apparel (during the cold months) to those living on the streets. Evening Response Outreach may use discretion to transport to shelters or sometimes the hospital for non emergency situations.

What is the purpose of the Evening Response Outreach?

The purpose of Evening Response Outreach is to build relationships with individuals and agencies to encourage those living on the streets to seek supports and shelter. It is expected that Evening Response Outreach staff treat all with dignity, respect, and non-judgement while making individuals as safe and as comfortable as resources allow.

Overview of role and responsibilities

  • Seek out and engage with individuals on the street to identify and understand needs and services the individual requires.
  • Prepare and provide food, beverages, and appropriate apparel to those in need.
  • Advocate on behalf of individuals to access shelters and/or other services.
  • Transport and/ or refer individuals to appropriate services
  • Light paperwork duties and general clean up

Successful applicants are required to: Have class 5 Drivers license

  • Provide criminal record check upon request
  • Provide references upon request
  • Have flexible schedule and be willing to pick up additional shifts should need be
  • Comply with AWACs policies and procedures
  • Communicate clearly while using professional, accessible language
  • Eagerly engage with ALL individuals and agencies
  • Have similar experience, and passion for this field of work

Job Type: Part-time (2-4 shifts per week) Hours of Operation:

Monday through Sunday, 7:30 PM - 3:00 AM

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Casual

Salary: $20.52-$25.19 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Prince George, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
