Zagimē Anishinabēk is a progressive First Nations, located around 22 KM Northeast of the Town of Grenfell in Saskatchewan.

SUMMARY: As a member of Zagimē Anishinabēk’s leadership team, the Executive Director of Child and Family Wellness provides executive management, strategic development, and planning that will support the commitments of Zagimē Anishinabēk for the prevention and protection services that support the safety and well-being of all members. This position is responsible for leading Zagimē towards designation as an Indigenous Child Welfare Authority; they plan, direct, develop, and promote the safety, security, well-being of children and families.

DUTIES:

  • Develop and manage the Child and Family Wellness program goals and objectives.
  • Develop and monitor long and short-term planning in Child and Family Wellness.
  • Create, implement, monitor, and report on the program budget to ensure the optimization, in accordance with Government of Canada funding requirements and regulations.
  • Compiling and tracking statistical information for quarterly and annual reporting.
  • Review monthly statements of revenue and expenditure to ensure correct coding of expenditures and note any variances that may cause concern.
  • Create, implement, and maintain policies and procedures in accordance with The Adoption Act, The Child and Family Services Authorities Act, and other legislation protecting the laws for children.
  • Promote the health and safety of children through ongoing communication with the Provincial Ministries of Child and Family Development, and the families of children at risk.
  • Responsible for planning and development of community service programs for the health and safety of community members through various funding initiatives.
  • Prepare proposals to access additional funds to develop, organize and maintain family and children’s programs.
  • Integrate Zagimē Anishinabēk cultural traditions into the program as a means of healing and connecting emotionally, spiritually, mentally, and physically.
  • Oversee the coordination of family and individual counseling, crisis intervention, and integrated case management activities with applicable agencies to support those requiring assistance in managing difficult and challenging situations.
  • Participate in the development of a comprehensive community plan.
  • Oversee development, implementation of jurisdiction of Child and Family Law.
  • Ensure implementation of a comprehensive communication strategy.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master in Social Work preferred.
  • Bachelor in Social Work with at least 7 years experience; or a related equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Extensive senior management experience in the Act Respecting Inuit, Metis, Youth and Families, Child and Family Services Act and Regulations, and other related legislation, and demonstrated experience in policy and program development.
  • Proven ability to work independently while establishing and maintaining effective working relationships; using integrated case management techniques and the ability to prioritize accordingly.
  • Ability to interpret and apply provincial and federal legislation, agency policy, and practice standards with confidence and professionalism.
  • Demonstrate success in leadership with the ability to identify common goals and work with a diverse team to move those goals forward.
  • Understanding and knowledge of Zagimē Anishinabēk culture and traditions, and the ability to speak the language is an asset.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office and other related programs.
  • Strong ethics and knowledge of confidentiality.
  • Valid Driver’s Licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Must submit a clear Criminal Record Check (with Vulnerable Sector Query), Pre-employment Substance Test and, a Child Abuse Registry Check prior to commencement of employment.
  • Prior Contact Check is mandatory and must be submitted with your application
  • Registered in or eligible to be registered in the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers.
