Glencore Copper is seeking a Manager Exploration to support the growth and development of our global Copper Portfolio to be based at our Toronto office in Canada.

Our Team
The Resource Engineering team is a recently established central function supporting existing and future operations and projects. The team is fundamental in delivering best practice operational performance and long-term strategy at our assets, as well as enabling Glencore’s ambitious growth plans.

This role represents a significant opportunity to work in a high-performance team while supporting world class operations and projects globally.

The Opportunity
The role will be part of the Resource Engineering team to develop and implement a tenement management and exploration strategy for Glencore Copper.

In this role you will:

  • Maintain a database of Glencore Copper’s existing exploration leases that sit outside of mining operations, and track all activity related to these leases.
  • Work with other Glencore personnel in determining the strategy for these leases including exploration potential evaluations and development plans.
  • Maintain a live list of exploration targets, undertake regular target ranking, assist with target normalization across opportunities and projects.
  • Keep abreast of industry developments and what is happening in the copper exploration market.
  • Provide general exploration support to existing Glencore sites on an as required basis.
  • Provide oversight across Glencore’s exploration joint venture agreements.
  • Assist the Business Development team in evaluating Junior Exploration companies for potential investment.

Your training, skills & expertise checklist:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in either Geology or Earth Sciences.
  • 12+ years mining industry experience across Copper exploration, operations resource estimation and/or consulting.
  • Significant exposure to a wide range of copper deposits styles.
  • Demonstrated capability at a Principal Geologist/Exploration Manager level with involvement in exploration planning and tenement management.
  • Experience in exploration strategy and management.
  • Strong skills in GIS mapping, databases and experience working with Government tenement and geology related data platforms.
  • Significant experience in communicating technical information and findings to senior personnel, including non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to travel to Glencore owned sites and other sites globally as required. (Up to 30% travel may be required)
  • Spanish language written and spoken would be beneficial.
