Extraction Technician

Position Summary

The Extraction Technician is responsible for carrying out the extraction processes while working effectively as a team member to meet production goals. The Extraction Technician directs the extraction of cannabis oil from the cannabis plants at the facilities. S/he will operate production equipment for cannabis extraction processes including filtering, diluting, formulating, and filling

While experience operating extraction equipment is preferred, we are looking for someone with a passion to learn in a growing industry and welcome those from various industries such as gas fitting, plumbing, pharmacology, cosmetology, culinary, or oil and gas

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to travel internationally if required.
  • Ability to learn in both classroom and practical application settings.
  • Ability to understand technical written and oral directions and apply logical sound decisions to overcome unforeseen variables.
  • Knowledge or the ability to learn the proper use of commercial processing equipment.
  • Have a safety-first mindset.
  • Dexterity and ability to troubleshoot machines (assembly/disassembly).
  • Able to lift and hold heavy parts for assembly and disassembly as needed.
  • Comprehension of mechanical and physical concepts (mechanical comprehension)
  • Good vision and hearing (watching for and listening for process changes).
  • Able to communicate problems and changes with equipment and processes.
  • Ability to meet critical timelines and deliverables while adapting to changing production goals and timelines.
  • Positive and professional attitude.
  • Ability to understand and communicate process variables (weight, temperature, pressure, other settings).
  • Always looking for continuous improvement of quality
  • Extreme care for inputs and outputs of process.
  • Cleanliness and industrial hygiene.
  • Ability to work with of hot, cold and delicate materials.
  • Ability to safely handle non-liquified gases, solvents, and a variety of materials in a controlled setting.

Qualifications:

  • Industrial and or production experience and asset.
  • Experience in the cannabis industry or a related field such as chemical manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or natural products is an advantage.
  • Comfortable working in a controlled environment.
  • Clean criminal record
  • Experience operating analytical equipment is beneficial.

Working Conditions

  • Shifts may be subject to business needs and you may be asked to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • PPE Required: Scrubs, gloves, hairnets, and safety shoes
  • Use of high pressure inert gas, high risk

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining a high level of attention to detail
  • Standing and walking for long periods of time
  • Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, and reach as needed
  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds
  • The ability to see and respond to machinery demand
