The Job
The incumbents will report to the Family Support Team Service Manager. Primary duties include: providing supervision and support to parents/kin during contact with their children; report any safety concerns or disclosures; remind parents of their outcome plans; observe, document and report; provide regular updates to Child Protection, Child Youth Service and Family Support Workers; attend Court as required; participate in Conferences/Circles; and any other duties as assigned by the Service Manager. Case assignments could be during the weekday, evenings and on weekends and take place in office, in client’s homes or other community locations. We are looking to fill a position in our Bracebridge & Huntsville service areas. This is a Bargaining Unit position with CUPE local 5319.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in the human services field or equivalent experience working with children and families.
  • Understanding of the Duty to Report.
  • An understanding of the criteria used to determine if a child is in need of protection, the degree of risk to a child, and a basic knowledge of child protection proceedings.
  • The ability to effectively engage and communicate with families who may possess varying degrees of willingness and capacity to change and to be able to engage a family in greeting and separating.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to work as a member of the service team.
  • A thorough understanding of anti-oppression values and principles is important.
  • An appreciation of and ability to work with a diverse community.
  • Valid driver's licence and access to a vehicle is required.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is a highly desired asset.


Compensation: Paid hourly at $24.87 per hour
