Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for accounting activities (journal postings, account reconciliations etc.), and financial reporting (profit & loss statement, including key performance indicators (KPIs)) & analysis, for the Lloydminster Refinery (LR) and Canadian Downstream Terminals within Downstream Manufacturing
  • Interpret results of business unit reporting and develop qualitative explanations for discussion
  • Coordinate and provide support in the preparation and submission of annual budgets, long range plans (LRP) and forecasts including full financial statement/profit & loss
  • Support the business unit in tracking planned and unplanned costs with variance analysis while stewarding to budget
  • Liaise with business operations to analyze and provide commentary on variances highlighted in standard management reports
  • Provide assurance that business unit financial statements align with business activities and are in accordance with accounting policies (IFRS & Sarbanes Oxley)
  • Provide analysis to support Management Discussion and Analysis and press release information
  • Support the business in identifying and managing operational risk within the scope of Downstream accounting
  • Identify and implement best business practice and process improvement opportunities
  • Respond to ad hoc requests and participate in ad hoc projects as required
  • Support Finance Team by providing coverage during absences through cross-training of other accounting and financial tasks
  • Work with Finance Manager to identify impact of Corporate initiatives on business unit finance
  • Support long range strategic planning, acquisitions, and new initiatives
  • Overall, responsible for the financial support of the Canadian Downstream Manufacturing assets in performing business analytical and accounting functions, assure business controls are operating effectively, contribute to business unit initiatives, and function as liaison on corporate processes with a variety of groups
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of business/financial analysis experience
  • Bachelor Degree with a specialization in Accounting/Finance
  • Certified Professional Accounting designation would be an asset
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong knowledge of SAP and/or other reporting systems
  • Strong financial accounting & reporting
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong financial acumen
  • Attention to detail and accuracy, with a demonstrated ability to work independently, multi-task in a changing environment and meet deadlines
  • Strong oral and written communication; ability to interpret and communicate financial information with clarity
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and team skills with ability to interact with all disciplines
