About the Job
The Dietary department at Gateway Haven Long Term Care Home is currently accepting applications for the position of Casual Cook/Food Service Worker. Under the direction of the Dietary Services Manager the Cook/Food Service Worker contributes to the efficient operation of the department with responsibility to produce high quality meals in a safe and sanitary environment This position is key to the facility, preparing and serving meals to the residents of the home in a pleasant and respectful manner. The sucessful candidate will be genuinely interested in caring for the elderly, in good physical condition (able to lift up to fifty pounds), and be able to work independently when required.

Requirements
Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
Chef Training or Culinary Management diploma or Certificate, Certificate of Qualification as a Cook or a post-secondary diploma in Food and Nutrition Management or a post-secondary degree in Food and Nutrition as per O.Reg. 79/10 of the Long Term Care Homes Act, 2007
Safe Food Handling Certificate
One year experience in quantity food production
Mature, reliable and able to work with minimal supervision
Able to work within a team environment
Genuine interest in the well-being of the elderly
Demonstrated patience, adaptability and flexibility
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Able to lift objects up to 50 lbs.
Full vaccination against COVID-19 (3 doses)
Two-step tuburculosis skin test
Clear criminal background check - vulnerable sector screen
