What can I expect to do in this role?

In this challenging role, you will:
  • provide specialist engineering advice to staff across the province;
  • carry out studies and evaluate ministry programs for appropriateness and effectiveness;
  • do investigations and evaluations of new material, suppliers, equipment and processes.
How do I qualify?
Mandatory
  • You are a Professional Engineer, licensed with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
Technical Knowledge
  • You have demonstrated knowledge of the theory, principles and practices of civil engineering, specifically soil mechanics and foundation engineering.
  • You have good knowledge of geotechnical analysis, design and construction methods.
  • You have of knowledge of structural design principles and methods.
Analytical, Investigative and Problem-Solving Skills
  • You have analytical, investigative and problem-solving skills to assess foundation engineering reports, contract documents and complex engineering problems and evaluate solutions.
Communication Skills
  • You have excellent communication skills to provide sound engineering advice, make technical presentations, develop and write formal specifications and reports.
  • You have interpersonal skills to maintain effective working relationships.
Leadership and Project Management Skills/Knowledge
  • You know project management methodologies to provide supervision to ministry staff and foundation engineering consultants on project specific basis to ensure projects and initiatives are delivered
  • You have leadership skills to provide technical supervision and technical leadership
