Job Description:

Reporting to the Manager, International Student Integration, the incumbent provides administrative support and logistical coordination for the International Education Centre (IEC) events and supports international student integration and success programs and initiatives for the IEC to ensure a welcoming and supportive environment for the College's international students at the Ottawa, Perth and Pembroke campuses.
Working closely with the International Student Advisors (ISAs), the incumbent organizes and delivers events and activities that support programming in the IEC and more specifically the goals of retention, integration, success and engagement. The incumbent assists the ISA’s in engaging in a process of continuous improvement for services, including ensuring that assessment is built into all the programming offered by the IEC, tracking and reporting on engagement and participation and managing registrations for these programs.
The incumbent manages social media promotions of said programs by maximizing use of IEC social media accounts such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. and maximizing available peer mentor resources.
The incumbent is responsible for the development of an ongoing social activity agenda to populate the international student activity calendar, and hosts virtual and on-campus social and cultural programming events and activities. As such, the incumbent is comfortable in hosting large virtual and face-to-face events.
The incumbent recruits and trains volunteers and peer mentors to assist with international student orientation, student retention programs and coordination and delivery of international student events.
The incumbent is responsible for maintaining and updating various scheduling and programming platforms, which may include Microsoft Bookings, Library Calendar, and others as necessary.
A proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and an understanding of social media platforms and tools and an ability to adapt to and implement new tools and platforms as they are developed and/or introduced is required.
The position may require some work on weekends and/or evenings, to accommodate students event schedules.
Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a two (2) year diploma/degree or equivalent in Office Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated experience in an administration function, including one (1) year of experience in the planning and delivery of programs and events;
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering presentations and creating presentation materials;
  • Demonstrated basic skills in social media management and adaptation to changing technology;
  • Demonstrated experience working with International learners and/or newcomers;
  • Experience using and manipulating Word, PowerPoint, Excel and other administration tools, including virtual webinar and meeting tools;
  • Good level of computer competency and familiarity with a range of social media platforms;
  • Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
