A visual merchandiser uses their visual creativity to design and construct product displays that appeal to the customer and encourage sales. These professionals use their creative conceptualization and attention to detail to develop displays that attract attention to new products and increase brand awareness. They use their creativity to develop signage, product arrangements, and thematic elements to enhance the overall visual representation of a store to attract customers. Having an affinity for visual, interior, graphic or fashion design can be beneficial for individuals working as visual merchandisers.

Blue Grass’ Garden Centre is full of unique garden décor and accessories, landscape and growing supplies and many more treasures. To merchandise our products, we require a talented and creative person to display our products and drive sales. The successful candidate will work 20-40 hours per week and be available for variable shifts (Mon-Sun availability) for the spring and summer with an opportunity to be considered for subsequent seasons.

Key Responsibilities:

Handle products from start to finish, receive, price, display, and maintain in our Garden Centre all while driving sales and exceeding customer expectations. This is accomplished by:

· Ensure product displays are customer focused, signed and shoppable.

· Help receive, unpack, price and display all products according to Purchaser and Garden Centre Manager's direction.

· Consolidate, maintain and refresh product displays as needed.

· Work closely with the Garden Centre team to create visual product displays.

· Provide exceptional customer service by assisting customers with advice, knowledge and purchasing of products.

· Answer questions for staff and customers on products, return policies and warranties.

· Support inventory control by providing detailed and constructive feedback to the inventory controller, purchaser and Garden Centre manager.

· Work with the Garden Centre Manager and purchaser to plan seasonal product changeovers.

· Monitor stock movement and recommend markdowns, promotions, and price changes to the purchaser and Garden Centre manager.

· Responsible for helping to keep the Garden Centre clean, safe and presentable at all times.

Skills and Knowledge:

· Previous garden centre experience and/or seasonal department décor and plant knowledge is a strong asset

· Strong attention to detail

· Excellent communication skills

· Strong listening, presentation and creative display skills

· Reliable, punctual, personable and energetic

· Highly creative with experience in identifying target audiences' needs and creating displays with merchandise to optimize sales

· A minimum of 3 years experience in customer service

· A minimum of 3 years experience in merchandising and stock management

· Good physical condition with the ability to climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs. and spend extended periods on your feet.
