CONNECT Partners was created specifically to provide support for 44 individuals currently living at the George Pearson Centre (GPC) in Vancouver. This population includes people with complex individual medical needs, some with mental health and addictions, and other physical disabilities. CONNECT Partners was contracted by Vancouver Coastal Health to deliver CONNECT’s Life Redesign ModelTM for this population once construction is complete on the Cambie Garden Apartments. Support will be provided to these individuals in their own homes starting in October 2022.

A Home Resource Coach (Handy-person) supports individuals by contributing to the upkeep of their homes.

A keeper of the culture of CONNECT Partners the Home Resource Coach works collaboratively with the rest of the team to find workable solutions to day-to-day issues while also overseeing the upkeep of our buildings, land and vehicles ensuring they are always in great shape.

With an eye on safety the Home Resource Coach is also the Fire Safety Coach for CONNECT Partners, responsible for training employees and running regular emergency evacuation practice scenarios.

EXPECTATIONS:

A Home and Resource Coach is expected to:

  • Share our values and believes in our service philosophy, embody CONNECT’s culture
  • Be practical, adaptable, resourceful, able to respond quickly to urgent or emergent situations;
  • Competently manage competing priorities while maintaining a sense of perspective and fun;
  • Be comfortable working with people;
  • Be comfortable navigating technology-based systems;
  • Competent working with computer systems and working closely with IT support;
  • Network within the community, build relationships, find and negotiate services with external contractors;

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Flexible with an on-call component

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Completes a regular schedule of maintenance activities and checks of all ground supports including lighting and heating;
  • Completes or arranges for the completion of:
  • Building/system repairs such as heating, lighting, computers taking into account any warranties that may apply;
  • Minor repairs to walls, doors and furniture;
  • Plumbing and electrical;
  • Carpet cleaning, window cleaning;
  • Routine vehicle maintenance and emergency repairs;
  • Supporting individuals with assistive technology malfunctions;
  • Servicing of various medical equipment such as power wheelchairs, lifts and physiotherapy equipment;
  • Supporting co-workers with tech-support
  • Provide emergency preparedness training as part of orientation for new employees;
  • Run regular emergency practice scenarios

Must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19
