Victoria is looking to hire the position outlined below for our Eagle Gold Mine located in Yukon:

HAUL TRUCK TRAINEE/LABOURER

Under the direction of the Mine Operations Supervisor, the Haul Truck Trainee/Labourer is responsible for providing general labouring assistance to the Mine Operations department. The incumbent is provided with the opportunity to learn how to safely operate a haul truck in an open pit mining environment. This position will be based at the Eagle Gold mine-site working a rotational schedule; 12 hours per day and day/night shift work schedule. Responsibilities are noted below which will include but are not limited to:

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Safety of self and others;
• Provide general labour support to the department;
• Simulator training to learn how to efficiently operate CAT 785D Haul Trucks;
• Conduct pre-trip/walk-around safety inspections and complete daily field level hazard assessments for all activities;
• Maintain equipment in good operating condition, reporting and logging maintenance requirements or concerns;
• Communicate effectively and professionally with other employees;
• Be a leader of both safety and production for the team by ensuring compliance with all Company and legislated safety policies and procedures; and,
• Behave in a way that demonstrates support of Victoria Gold’s Vision and Values.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Willingness to learn;
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment;
• Must have a valid driver’s license;
• Physically capable of lifting fifty pounds (50 lbs); and
• Self-directed and self-motivated, demonstrating initiative to do more than is expected or required in the position.
• Must pass pre-employment medical, substance abuse test, criminal records check, hold a valid class 5 driver’s license, provide a driver’s abstract; and,
• Have a proven commitment to safety, health and environmental standards.
